Was too hot, now too cold
I probably shouldn't complain but.....
After losing a motor (cracked both heads), I got tired of the heat.
I had already done: new radiator, hoses, cap, water pump, air dam, T-stat, dual fans running constant, system flushed, and correct timing. Also made sure the AC radiator was clean. Still would not run lower than 220 and would creep to 250+ in the daytime. You could smell it.
Installed new motor. Temp still same. Not going to lose this one.
I installed a 160 T-stat and a pint of water wetter into coolant solution of 85% DI water and 15% coolant. Now, no matter what I do, the car will never reach 190 and typically runs below 150. This is in summertime Florida. As you can imagine, it's also now running a bit rich and I think the advance is also reduced. Fuel consumption up about 5%. Who/how can the ECM be adjusted to run correct A/F and timing at these lower temps?

Sorry I can't reply to the topic I don't know enough. Maybe adjusting a fuel pressure regulator will help some. ANyway I like the difference it all made. Aren't you worried for internal corrosion when using so much water? I was thinking of putting an offer material in such as magnesium in the radiator, through the radiator cap, I once read about it. However where will all the powder go?
cheers
