I'm sooo happy!!!!

I'm sure most of you don't really care but I'm so excited I had to tell some one, anyways I just rebuilt the engine in my car its a 350 .060 over etc. it has like 350 miles on it and it has been overheating since day 1, the whole cooling system is brand new and i didnt understand why it was doing it, i had replaced the stock gauge with another stock one and the same reading, finally bought a mechanical temp gauge and it never goes over 220...I will never use electric gauges again....sorry lile i said im sure you dont care but this makes me very very happy.

I assume you know what your doing, but when you filled your system, you were sure to bleed the top of the motor right??

Bleed the top of the motor??? Please explain. I've never heard of this, so I didn't do it when I swaped the water pump.

At the highest point of the system, Usually a heater hose, you leave it OPEN while you _SLOWLY_ fill the system with fluid until it starts to come out the top..

This ensures all the air is drawn out of the system.

On newer cars, GM actually outlines under the hood that the procedure must be strictly followed. Some backyard mechancis may dissagree, but as long as they work on their own cars I don't care.

Sometimes air in the system will cause overheating problems,
on newer style water pumps it causes pump failure immediately.

Of course your engine being bored .060 could have a little to do with your heating problems too... Getting pretty close to the water!

I didn't notice that statement. Even .030 bores run a little hotter.

yea i know that it being .060 over doesnt help, i was told by several people that it would run really hot until it got broke in so im thinking maybe it was part gauge part the engine is starting to break in.
