Are you looking from up top or from the bottom? The fan switch is almost impossible to find from up top looking down. I found mine by manuevering a dentist mirror in the engine compartment( I didn't have a jack available at the time). Also, what do you mean by plug? Could it be the wires got detached somehow. I had this done to me. The previous owner detached a harness and just left the sensor there; I still have not found the harness that goes to it. If your sure you found the right location, I think your only option is, dare I say, to go to the dealer. Good luck.

you are gonna have to look from the bottom and try to find the wire that goes to it. good luck finding that wire, it may not be there and it may have been laying on a exhaust pipe and be burned, but you may find it in untouched form. it is not impossible to see where the switch goes from the top you just have to have headers. i removed my switch and put a plug in its place from the top. i couldnt find the wire that goes to mine and one day my fan stopped working so i just wired it up to my own switch
