Temp Switch on Intake Manifold?

OK so I know that the fan switch is supposed to be between cylinder 6 and 8 but I'm blind and I can't see mine, even from the bottom... Yes I've gone in from the bottom and the top...

Anyway there looks like a there is a temp sensor on the top of the block on the intake manifold towards the front of the car slightly offset from the center towards the passenger side.

Anyway I didn't take that sensor out because there is a plastic adaptor piece piece that I couldn't remove from the mystery sensor so I just left it there.

Could this be the fan switch or do I just need to become not blind and find it between 6 and 8? In any event will there be an adaptor around the fan switch or will I just pop off the piece with green/dark green wires unscrew the bad fan switch and presto or is it more complicated.

Thank You!
