Keeping it cool.
If you want to keep your third gen cool. Get an aluminum radiator and a 160 degree fan switch from hypertech if you have an electric fan/s. My Trans Am operates at around 175 degrees even when it sits idle. It is also important to make sure you have your antifreeze and water mixture correct. This makes a difference believe it or not. Another good idea is to wire in an override switch so you can operate the fan/s when the car is off. This is helpful when you want to run some cool air over the engine while in line at the drag strip.

1987FBD. No offence, but 175 is not too cool. 180 is the stock operating temp. That is only 5 degrees less. 180 is the temperature you need to run a stock engine. If you have a 305ci carbed motor thats above 350 hp like mine you need to run a little cooler temerature. So 175 is not too cool.
