Please give me your diagnosis!!!!

My car normally runs between 190 and 200. 190 while driving, and around 200 while stopped at a light or somethin. Today I was driving and stopped at a light I looked over and noticed that the temperature gauge was at about 220. 20 degrees above what it normally is. I was where I was going to, so I pulled over and did what I had to do. Came back out about 10-15 min later and drove down the road a little ways, same thing. It started heating up, so I stopped off by an autozone. My belt that runs the altenator and some other stuff appears to be missing some of the teeth but didn't look like it was slipping, but I bought one to replace it anyway. I also bought a thermostat, because I am not sure how old the one in my car is. The guy I bought the engine off of rebuilt the engine about 10,000 ago, so I would like to think he replaced this too. After I came out of the parts store my car went back down to the normal temp and did not go over the 200 mark again the whole way home. After I got home I let it set in the driveway for about 5-10 minutes and still no overheating. COuld something just have been passing through my system, or do you think this is something starting to go bad. I leak no antifreeze or anything like that, and it is not low on antifreeze. Just looking for some expert opinions. Thanks!!!!

you will probably benefit from upgrading to dual electric fans. but as long as it doesn't get above 220 then its ok. that about normal. but i would go with a 180 thermostat and a fan switch

My fan stays on all the time. Like I said, normally (as in every since I have had the car, like 8 months now) it runs between 190 and 200. Don't feel I have the need for daul fans. I havn't been having this problem, it just happend today then went away. I did replace the belt that I said looked to be pretty worn, and it actually sat at an idle at about 185 or so for about 10-15 minutes, so maybe the belt was just slipping, and today's wet weather affected it a little. Maybe this belt will fix it, if not I am going to try the thermostat. Then if that doesn't work, maybe go with the daul fans.

I hope it was somethin like that. I guess I will just drive around and see if it overheats anymore. If it does I will replace the thermostat and work from there.
