no idea what this part is

On my car I have this weird fan-type-thing shoved down in the fender next to my battery. It's attached to a tube that runs up under my air cleaner and the end is open and I can't find anything that it couldno idea wha hook up to. I have t this part is. But nobody else's cars seem to have them and I can't find any info for it. It kept killing my battery cause it wouldn't shut off too. So I just ripped it out. Anyone have any idea what this fan can be?

Maybe the previous owner was trying one of those electric superchargers that are worthless pieces of crap.

I thought that it could be one of those "superchargers", but after I ripped it out I saw that it was made my AC Delco, part #5049079. So who knows.

I'm reviving this post because I just pulled the same thing out of the front/passanger side fender of my 87 Iroc. I don't have a clue of what it is, but hopefully someone does. I'm not putting it back in, but if someone knows what it is, I'll be able to sleep at night

it is a blower that GM installed to try to address VAPOR LOCK on some years of cars. it is supposed to blow cool air into the intake stream and help eliminate the vapor lock, I think that is the same time they (GM) installed an electric intank pump in conjunction with the mechanical pump on the block itself, should be around 85 or 86 I think.

Thanks redbird - now I don't feel so bad about tossing it in the trash.
