two cool related questions
ive got a 89 L98 iroc
1. would a electric water pump be a good idea?
2. if i put in a aftermarket temp gauge, what one should i go with and how do you hook one up. i was thinking of an apiler pod, get one for water temp, tranny temp and the oil pressure maybe.
thanks

As far as #1 goes, I have been told that electric pumps dont have the life span to make good replacements for street driven vehicles. Mind you I dont know for sure, but I was working under that advice when I elected not to get one.

i would stay with the regular belt driven water pump..
as far as the new temp guage goes, get one made by autometer.
whats wrong with you stock guage, if it doesnt read right it may just be the sender.

electric water pump
supposivly CSI has an electric water pump has a life span of 5500 hours.. now if u drive ur car for 1 hour a day, everyday, this comes out to about 15 years of use.. (however that 5500 hours is cotinuous use) now i don't even see a mechanical water pump working that long.. but then again ur fans are electric motors and they pull more amps then an electric water pump.. the only reason i would not think an electric water pump would be reliable, is they can go out and not give as many signs as a mechanical pump will.. but then who says a mechanical pump won't just die one day. just keep an eye on that guage....
the next problem people have about electric water pumps. is that they don't flow the #'s that a mechanical fan pump will. not at idle you will be flowing more water.. which should keep u cooler then.. but when ur on the highway at 2200 rpms. u might not be flowing quite as much. but if u have a good cooling system then i don't see that as a problem. however there are electric water pumps now that flow 65 GPM!! but most are around 35 GPM.
