New mod to help cool down.....

Well living in Southern Florida is horrible for trying to keep a car cold, especially this V8.....

Here is a idea that i had.........What if you could possibly lenghten the hoses that lead into and out of the radiator.......?????

By making them longer and possibly routing them where they would come in contact with cooler air would not only help them cool down, but at the same time, make it possible to run more coolant/water through the system since the volume would be increased....

Share your thought/comments/ideas/suggestions........

Well since the hoses go right in front of the car to the radiator, why not extend them somehow into the front part of the nose or something?? Then back to the radiator....

Would there be a problem with pressure that's needed in the system??

Honestly don't think it would make a difference. One thing you might want to consider is a separate trans cooler if it is an auto. The ATF with a separate cooler will not transfer heat to the coolant thereby reducing the amount of heat the rad has to eliminate. Longer hose is irrelovant to sys press, it's determined by the relief pressure of the cap and system integrity.

maybe if you ran your radiator hoses through your "phat" rims it would be cooler. i mean, if they are choppin up the air and stuff, im sure it would work.

j/k dont get mad. just a joke.

The AUTO tranny cooler is a good point there i totally overlooked it......

BUT i don't think the extra hoses would hurt anything, could probally only help.......The extra volume i assume will work......also the location of the hoses would provide a new cooling point.....

I'm gonna go outside tommorrow to see where all these hoses coud fit, I'll post when i find someplace....

The rubber hoses won't transfer much heat to the outside. Use of large metal lines would do some good, but to take advantage of the transfer you need them in some cool air. Doing that would be lots of work, and dollars. If the engine is tuned well(not running lean), and water pump is pumping good flow(no restrictions), get the highest capacity radiator you can find. Get a huge tranny cooler. Then concentrate your efforts on getting as much air in and out of the radiator as possible--better flowing fans(slow speeds) and/or an air deflector that hangs down lower(high speeds). Cowl hood helps too.

Well I'm planning on getting airbags on my car which means the Air Dam will be no longer on the car..........which just happens to be an important part of the cooling system......

So i'll start off by Installing a tranny cooler, wiring the fan to run all the time.........I've already got a new modine aluminum radiator............
