Well at least you figured out your problem and your outcome was one that was easily fixable
After wrenching for 7 hours srtaight putting my 383 in i had no power trying to start the car. I then realized that I hooked everything to the starter except for the main power cable. My dad will never let me live it down.
one thing leads to another...
GRRR!!!!!!!!!! OK so I put the new therostat in... drive around and my car over heats! SO WHAT THE.... i pull it back out the dam piece of ****, it was bad and was stuck close... so i went and returned it got the new one and in the process of putting it in i cracked the little cast aluminum housing...!!!!!!!! I know it couldnt get any worse, ok went and got an new one of thoes it was only like 15... ok hours later my car is still overheating?? i pull over and my heater control valve EXPLODES! as soon as i open the hood draing out the entire cooling system... im guessing it was bad! so i put an new one in it was only like 15 too so starting off putting in a thermostat it turned into like 40 bucks... not a good week

On the bright side of forgeting little things, I bet you will NEVER forget again. I know I have learned many hard lessons with cars, and life for that matter.
