heat/AC controls

I hope I have the right board. It has to do with the fan for the vents in the car. Anyway, my fan in the car doesn't work when I turn it on the highest setting. It works on every other setting below high, but as soon as you turn it on high the fan just cuts out and doesn't blow any air through the vents. Every once in a while it will work, until I turn off the car and turn it back on then the problem is back. Anybody have a clue why it is doing this and how I can fix it?

Thanks,
Harry

test your blower relay. On high the electrictiy goes through the relay. On other settings they go through a set of resistors then to the blower motor. So test the relay and see if that is your problem.

I'm going to check the relay today. Sounds to me that the relay is bad. I'll keep you posted if the relay is the problem

Well I replaced the relay, the one one the left side of the engine bay towards the back, and the problem was not fixed. Do I have the right relay? Its the one in the back on the left side of the engine bay. My Car is put away for the winter, but I would like to get this fixed now, when I have the time. Could it be a loose wire or a bad blower?

Thanks Harry

I figured out the problem. Pep Boys sold me a bad relay, it doesn't click when you apply power to the two terminals. I used a relay from another car and it works fine. I ripped apart the controls inside to see if it was a bad switch, all for nothing. I'm going to try and take the relay back to Pep Boys.
Thanks for all your help,
Harry
