air dam questions

alright, just got my 350 put in and its running really hot, i dont have an air dam wich im sure is part of the problem but it has a 305 radiator with a single fan and even when your just sitting it still runs pretty hot. how much does an air dam cost at a dealer? will an 85 camaro air dam work on my 85 trans am? and if this doesnt fix it will i need a new radiator, or thermostat? thanks

the airdam from the camaro should be the exact same as for the rest is youre fan elecric or a clutch fan since you said single I`m going to assume electric and it should do the job OK but you might want to change the fan switch to a lower temp one.

you can get the fan switches from summit or jegs as far as where they are at I am not sure as my car came from the factory with a belt driven fan I would assme that it would be in one of the heads though

You might want to check the fan clutch to make sure it is good there should be no play in it and it should move when you attempt to move it by hand but there should be some resistance and you do have a fan shroud don`t you

yeah, i have a fan shroud, and the fan works fine, i just cant keep it cool, ill get an air dam and maybe a lower thermostat, and if that doesnt work ill just get a new radiator i guess

sound like you are on the right track I wish I could be of more help but trying to diagnose the things without the car in front of you can be hard

I had the same problem and you should get an air dam. It would fix your problem because the cooling air comes underneath your car not from the front.
160 thermosthat is a good idea also.
Good luck!

the 305 intake manifold was left on the 350, and it has a 600 cfm edelbrock carb and the computer was removed, so can i get a 160* thermostat? what about the high flow ones in jegs, anybody tried them?
