Removing A/C
I want to remove my A/C out of my 88 IROC, the car thats described in my sig. Do you guys think it is worth it to go without A/C, I dont really use it, and my windows work well
. So I was wondering if the lost weight of the A/C Cooler, and the Pump would be worth it, Im running a Serpintine belt system. I was wondering if All i need is the 1LE A/C Delete and if anyone knows what size the belt would be without the a/c pump.
Thanks

if i were u i would also change over to a heat only blower box to clean up the firewall some. and get rid of even more weight. even though the evaporator only weighs like a pound.. but when u combine that with the weight of the compressor and the condesor (which will help get u more air through ur radiator too) then i can see it being a good thing. i think the whole a\c system weights like 46lbs..

It's up to you if you think it's worth removing your AC. Some people's comfort level is different than others. Some people think I'm nuts for not having AC in south Georgia. However, if yours still works I'd keep it. Mine didn't work and I never used it so away it went and I don't regret it. I did it to save weight, clean up the engine bay, and make everything easier to work on.
You can run the same belt you had before....the dummy pulley is the same diameter as the AC clutch pulley.

The non-a/c heater box will be hard to find, and when you do find them they dont come cheap. I would love to have one, but I ended up making a plate for the top of the box. It helps some and ended up looking close to stock.

don't forget that the ladies like A\C!!

i took out my ac and decided to rivet a piece of sheetmetal in the ac hole and cant find a non ac box cuz they are freakin rare so i was thinkin of finding a non ac gm car and puttin my heater motor in that box and possibly redrilling new holes for the box to mount or not having heat at all and using the control area for more gauges.
