water pump leaking

for some odd reason, my water pump started leaking. it doesnt leak untill it sits for a while overnight. every morning when i back it out of the garage, theres a little pool of green liquid sitting under where the car was parked. ive traced it to the gasket on the back of the pump. this was a new gasket too, i thought it was odd that it was like just plain old paper thin cardboard, this is the gasket right? ive re tightned the bolts as much as possible and it stopped for 2 days. the only things i can think of is either this was the wrong gasket, or i was suppost to use some kind of sealant WITH the gasket. it could also be that i have the heater hoses screwed up. one goes from the intake manifold, to the oil cooler, out the other side, then to the heater core (the bigger fitting), then out the otherside with the smaller fitting straight to the radiator. does this sound alright? is it possible i have the oil cooler hoses backwards? every thing was workin fine for like a whole month....

i used gasket sealant and the gasket supplied when i changed my waterpump, no leaks

i wonder, are you sure the pump leaks from their or the weep hole on the bottom, meaning that the pump is going bad...

When replacing the waterpump and gasket, the drivers side Lower waterpump mounting bolt goes through a water jacket and the bolt needs to get sealed. I used "Permatex" waterpump and thermostat sealant.

That's exactly what I was thinking. If no sealant was put on the lower bolts, chances are it's coming from there.

i believe the blue RTV is the ideal sealant for the water pump gaskets. just smear a thin layer on both sides of it. but let it sit at least 12 hours before driving around on it so it has a chance to set up. 24 hours would really be better, but if you can't wait that long, try to give it at least 12.
