Leaking thermostat housing
This is starting to really get on my wick! Replaced the thermostat a few months ago and the thing developed a leak. Not surprising as the instructions given with it were wrong. I replaced the gasket again putting the thermostat into the dish on the intake, then the gasket, then the housing over it. I used a little sealer on both sides of the gasket and torqued everything down to what I was told should be hand tight.
Problem is the thing is still leaking and the leak does seem to be comming from the gasket seal and not the hose. Any ideas? I'm getting really sick of doing this.
Thanks for the help
Robert

get rid of those annoying cork gaskets and get urself a reusable rubber gasket. i think the part # is 35562T from autozone for v-8's. and you need to get it a little tighter then 'hand tight'

Don't know where the hand tight thing came from. GM gasket is a printo-seal type, it has a rubber seal molded into it. Get one, they seal the first time. Make sure the mating surfaces are clean. Torque specs, 25-30ft/lbs for aluminum housings-30ft/lbs up to 89, 89 and up 25ft/lbs.
