OVerheating + Low Oil Pressure

OVerheating + Low Oil Pressure
It's a 92 RS with a 305, everything stock
Engine overheats quickly while idling, driving in traffic, or having to stop a lot while the temp is fine at high speeds. Thermostat works, water pump works, airdam present (though as I understand that only matters at higher speeds anyway, right?), fan works and turns on at proper temp but it only slows the overheating, doesn't stop it.
Im not sure if this is related but my oil pressure redlines while idling or stopped at a light, etc. It takes the engine going up to about 1500+ rpm for the pressure to move out of redline. Thought maybe low oil pressure = no lubrication = overheating.
thx in advance for any and all help

From what I've seen in the two that I own, that's completely normal. When driving in traffic and making stops there's no moving air to help keep the engine cool, and by the same token, your engine is getting hot and making you oil lose viscosity (not sure about spelling) and I think the general rule is like 10 for every 1000 rpms. So I would so, as long as you don't reach redline temps, you should be ok.

idk about the oil pressure but presure test the system, and check the radiator cap, and make sure there are no air bubbles in the system.. and make sure your heter core is ok...ever have a pool of a/f in the passenger seat? or on startup, ever get smoke out the vents? just some ideas to check for. yes air damns only matter on the highway
