runnig hot

I have a small problem whit the temp. First it runs at normal temp but now and then i increases to about 235F and then it cools down to normal. Very strange i think, both fans are running since i change the fan control unit so now they both kick in at the same time. Could there be a leak in the radiator cap so i get air in the system or could it be something worse like the head gasket.

I had just about exactly the same problem your having with my other car, i would be on the highway and the temp would creep up to 220 then go down to like 195 and continue to do this over and over again. it turns out my thermostat was sticking i changed it and now the cars fine, change the thermo hopefully that will fix your problem.

I changed mine only two years ago. Sometimes i can see bubbles in the canister that contains the cooling liquid. It seems that the coolant from the radiator ends up in that canister so i have to refill the radiator. Thats why im leening to a problwm with the radiator cap. Anyother suggestions?

My thermo was only about 1 yr old when it went bad so you should change it anyway its cheap also change the rad cap. Bubbles mean you have air in the system, could be intake manifold gasket or head gasket at worst or it could be something minor. While the car is running coolant goes into the overflow tank its normal, are you leaking coolant? What color is your oil, is it milky or is it bubbly at all?

some of the tpis were ment to run around 220 highway.. my friends trans am fan tyurns on at about 235 and shuts off at around 180so it usually stays around 220, id either get a different stat, new fan switch that turns on sooner, or put in a manual fan switch.

I change the thing that starts the fans so now they come on earlier. No the oil is fine no problems there and i get heat from the ventilation system so it shouldnt be the head gasket because usually the heat doesnt work then and you got coolant in the oil. I havent seen any leaks exept from the overflow tank thats because of the bubbles that squirts coolant.

Oh no she leeking ¨coolant somewhere. I filled the radiator with 0.8 liters today. When i drove home from work this evening i noticed a small pool of coolant. It seems to come from where the cat is located, behind the engine on the right side. What on earth could that be???? Any ideas?

Have you checked the hoses at the heater core?

your heter core might be bad or leaking thus relieveing pressure from within the cooling system... try rerouting the heter core hoses and see if it still overheats... or runs hot

When i filled the system again with coolant it doesnt run hot. I dont know if i filled to much coolant in the radiator so it overflowed. Its was a pool of coolant on the overflow tank. Maybe it came from there.

I found it!! Its the hose clamp to the heat package behind the engine. The clamp was lose thats why it was spraying coolant all over the engine ones it got hot. Thank *** it wasnt anything more serious.
Thank you all for your answers.
