The men in brown left me a package :)
Got me a new Griffin radiator today
has anyone had probs with the lower hose? Kinda points up instead of just straight out like the stock one. Guess I'll find out all the little quarks when it goes in this week

Looks like a nice piece!
I would think if it is angled up a little it should be excellent as sometimes there seems to be little to no clearance on the bottom of the lower hose when a typical replacement is installed.
Be sure to let us know how it turns out.

Well, I got bored last night so I put the radiator in
Yep, that upward angle for the bottom hose does help out. Everything fit without much fuss, made a couple of temporary brackets until I can make a nice aluminum bracket to hold the top. Also put some thin rubber on both tank sides near the bottom since it's such a close fit. I'll get pics up later today of how it turned out. Overall, a very nice piece for $189

What series rad is it? They have four or five types depending on requirements. If it is the pro-series for $189 that is good deal.
How long did it take to get it?

Well, here it is minus the electric fan (which is now on) I bought it from summit racing, it's the circle track 31x19 dual 1 inch cores. Summit part # GRI-1-25272-X
I'd say it took me about 2 1/2 hours or so to take the old stock rad out, trial fit the new one about 4 times, make the brackets, cut the little rubber pads and put the hoses on. It was easier than I thought it would be. Also spent time putting a transmission fluid temp sensor inline just after the B&M cooler. That was probably another 1 1/2 hours of figuring where to mount it and making up the hoses (used AN fittings).
Haven't had the chance to drive the car yet, the rear end is apart waiting for a locker to go in
Hopefully by Friday eve I'll be driving the car around.

Update! Got the car all back together and on the road today. Installed a powertrax no-slip locker plus of course the radiator the other day. Went out for a 30 mile drive down and then back up a steep hill and temps were about 20-30 degrees cooler. Temps stayed around 170 to 175 cruising at about 60 where it usually climbed up to around 200. The fan finally kicked on at 185 after finishing going up the steepest part of the hill. The real test comes in summer where it can get up to 110 around here

Hey EvilCartman, nice job. I have a couple of questions though. Do you have A/C in that car? I don't think you do looking at the pictures. Also, where did you mount the trans. cooler? In front of the radiator? I am having a tough time placing my oil/trans. cooler with both the a/c and radiator in! Also, did you install that inline temp sender for a guage or does it have a guage on it? Reason i ask that one is b/c i too would like to have a trans. temp guage but i do not want to drill into the pan. I was thiking of the inline hook up which i think is what you installed. I'll stop rambling now. Thanks for your time.

I've taken the A/C out since the system had a leak and I had no money at the time to fix it lol. I hardly used it when it worked anyway, wasn't getting that cool. The transcooler is mounted on the X brace towards the passenger side of it. Yep, that temp sensor is for an Autometer Ultra-Lite gauge, since I've had tranny problems in the past I thought this would be good to get. There's an inline adapter you can get through summit that the sensor just screws into. I'll get pics tomorrow of where I mounted everything

Here's the pics
This is the block that the temp sensor screws into. It comes with a couple of compression fittings to go inline on the hardline but I went with AN fittings
Here's another picture showing where I mounted it.
Here's the B&M tranny cooler. Just had the push on ends so no fancy AN fittings on that
That'll probably change later down the road
Then here's the gauges just for kicks

http://store.summitracing.com/defaul...&d=7&x=13&y=11 look there. In the pics he has the trans fluid going through the "real" hose. As far as the "slip over" part, like he said he would need to get some AN fittings down the road. But that stuff comes in rolls of specific footage and when you cut it, it looks like that. I guess you could either slip it over stuff and then use a hose clamp, like he did, or you could either go with the fancy AN fittings like the ones he has pictured on the trans temp sender(blue box). Hope that helps you out a bit. good luck

The one end on the trans cooler has a hose clamp. The end on the blue box has a AN fitting. Once you cut the hose to the desired length, you have to push on one of the AN fittings. They are kinda a pain in the *** to get on the hose if you do not cut it good enough! They just stay on there. You must push them on all of the way until they can not go anymore. Wierd to explain, but that is pretty much it.

Several of my friends use the Griffin Rad ( or similiar makes ) in ver, very serious Autocross cars. None have had a problem.
It says for race use only because they may not have the exact same location for rad hoses and\or temperature or low water level fittings. These are universal use Rads afterall.
Saves the mfg the hassle of having to make a zillion different designs. Also solves warranty issues for idiot Joe Q public who never maintain their cooling system and are expecting it to last a Zillion years.
