Whats your temp at??Whats too cold?

Ok, had some overheating problems in the past, after replacing almost damn near everything in the cooling system, I think I might be running too cold. I am currently running a 4028 hypertech 200*-185* secondary fan switch, and a 180* thermostat. I am running one notch below 190*, albiet its not too hot out, is this ok temp to be running? Heard I could damage my motor and fudge up my MPG/performance.

Never had the cooling system running right since I bought it, what temp is stock for a TPI 5.7?

My RS after I added the dual fans never went above 200* and my IROC 190*-210*. I gotta pull out the rad and the condenser and wash them out. That will make it run cool.

BTW 190* isn't a bad temp at all to run at.

From the factory with a 195 stat on the highway the temp guage should rest on the line between the 100 and 220 marks. Manufacturers almost always design the temp guage to rest on a reference point. Give or take it's around 200 degrees. This subject gets much discussion but almost every car made runs at 195. If the cooling system is OK thats fine. 180 is a good choice if you want to lower the operating temp a few degrees but anything lower does in fact reduce fuel economy. According to engineers I have discussed this with the almost universal opinion is a STABLE operating temp. Guys who put in these 160 stats have a very large swing between highway and city driving. I have read hundreds of posts and many times mods are done to do nothing more than correct cooling system problems. Stock temp, fan operation results in the best overall performance of the cooling system. Let the games begin!

i am very pleased with my 180 stat, seemed to keep my car alittle cooler when sitting in traffic and on the highway.
