another "hot" car... help, please...

problem is that car is running about 220* straight up on the highway, both fans running, and not cooling down.

normal temp is just over 160, according to the good ol' reliable dash gauge, on a normal day. both fans work, thermostat was replaced a few months ago cuz it was stuck open, stock GM stat (195). the temp rode right around 220, just over, never got any hotter, but just didn't want to cool back down doing 70 mph. i have a 185/200 fan switch installed, too.

was reading some other posts, thinking maybe a radiator cap, check the airdam and possible blockage?

Bingo, flush out your radiator and block, could be some nasty buildup, also check for leaves & etc blocking air flow. Make sure you have an Air Dam still, if not replace it.. that's a common cause of heat during highway use.

Keep us up to date on what happens

damn plastic bags'll getcha everytime... i was at work (still am) when i posted this, got a break and went out to take a look at the obvious and there it was - all nestled up in the condenser coils... must not have seen that one coming cuz usually when i encounter trash on the road i look behind me to see if passes by because of this very reason... live and learn, i guess...

Cheap, inexpensive way of fixing the heat problem. Remove the plastic bag. hehe.
