About to lower car... but front higher than rear

I installed new stock shocks and struts about 2 years ago. I have 235/55/16 on the IROC which raised the car about half an inch. I've decided to try and lower. I'm looking at Hotchkis, going through posts and doing some reasearch. Looking at the car... i think the rear sits maybe 1/4" lower than the front. I've been reading where the front is dropping 1" while the rear is dropping 1.5"??? Should i try the Kotchkis kit for $230?

Well, its hard to say. If you rear is lower right now, it might be because the springs are sagging or your missing the rubber isolators (or have a really big speaker box in the back ). I replaced my WS6 springs with the Hotchkis springs. The front was about 1" and the rear was about a 1.5" drop, but even with that, the front is still .5" lower then the back.

I called summit, they recommended the eibach sport line kit. 1.6 in front, 1.3 in the rear. none in stock until the end of the month. where else can i get them?
he said hotchkis only lowers 1 in front 1 in rear, i'm looking for a slightly lower stance.

The advertised drop is from original height, not your current height.

------------------
350 with stealth intake, holley carb, 470 lift cam. 700r4 with .5 boost valve, vette servo, tci lock-up kit, B&M megashifter. Richmond 3.73 gears, powertrax locker, timkin bearings, synthetic lube. Custom 3 inch single into 2 2.5 pipes. 1 1/2 drop springs, 1 5/16 solid front sway bar, 1 inch rear bar, custom subframe connectors, custom LCA relocation brackets. Kobel ground FX, currant red metallic paint. Lots of other stuff...

How should I know what you can and can't figure out? The back tends to sag the most, so using the current height(lower in the back than the front) is useless. Ignore your current height. A set of drop springs will give you a level car. If you don't want help and ideas, don't ask.

I purchased mine from www.tirerack.com. I just checked and they are back ordered also. Might want to compare prices if you have to wait anyway. Tirerack is $208 + s/h (my s/h was $16) - Summit is $230.

I have mine on for about 9 months now and love 'em. My rear was a little lower before installing the springs and the car is now level.

spend the extra and go with eibach's if you want it really low go with the sportlines; remember that when they say it lowers the car it's from the factory height and not it's current height!

Hey Schultzy... thanks for checking. That's funny that you say the Sportlines are backordered at Tirerack... I bought the last pair the day before yesterday. After comparing prices, they were cheapest. Plus, they aren't some unheard of company that no one's dealt with before. Would an alignment be able to wait a week. Did it throw your camber off enough to notice and what do you think your initial drop was as soon as you set it down? Did it sag over time? I'm going home friday to pick up the car and do the springs. Of course I'll want to drive it back to school which is 100 miles.

No problem... glad that you were able to get them. You will definitely want to get an alignment but I put about 60 miles on mine before it was aligned. Apparently I needed some front end work done and the shop could not guarantee an alignment until it was accomplished. I had to wait a week for parts. I took it pretty easy during that week. I didn't really notice any problems before the alignment but I am sure that it was needed.

The initial drop was pretty close to advertised (a little over 1.5 inches in front and a little less than 1.5 in back) and it settled within a few days. The springs are pretty stout. I have not noticed any additional 'sag' or drop.

It accomplished my goals i.e to get rid of some of the extra space between the tire and fender without looking 'slammed' and to 'level' out the look as mentioned before. It also performs better in the twisties... you will be pleased.

I would like to see before and after pics when you are done to see how they look on an IROC.
