I need help in cooling it down

I have a 89 IROC with the 350 TPI in it, well my A/C and pressure fan never came on, so I rigged it so that it owuld come on when the other one did. But I still can't run the A/C with out it getting too hot. It runs about 230-235 most the time when the A/C is off, but like 240-250 when its on. Someone said that they are hot running cars. I was wondering if I could do something else to cool it down.
