what is regualr running temp for car

what is a running temp for a 89 305 v8 tbi car.
i installed a 160 term but temp still reaches 220-230 fan is running when i stop car and check.so why car getting so hot with fan and new termo installed.

Here are some stuff to look for, Do you have a air dam? Is your radiator clean? Is your water pump working? does the fan work all the time?

not sure if i have an air damn but radiator is clean just got a new one installed and hoeses and fan is running.

No Air Dam under the car = hotter operating tempertures even if the radiator and etc are new. Just look under the front of the car.

Is your gauge reading correctly? Mine has been reading like 30-40* hotter than it actually is. I can't figure out why, but it is. Something to think about. Maybe take her down to a local rad shop and they usually have a temp gun that will measure your correct temp and then compare to your temp gauge.
