Where to order 170 degree thermostat online?

My local GM dealers don't have it or have to order it which means a waste of time, where can I order one online? Thanks.

About a year ago I ordered mine from TPIS (www.tpis.com). It is not on their website now, but it is in my old catalog I have at my house. I am not sure if they still carry it but the part # for the 170 degree therm. was 100-349.

K, thanks. I'd still like some other sites if anybody knows any, in case TPIS doesnt have them anymore, which on their site they dont, but I'll email them.

Not sure why you would want to run that cold? Granted, 170°F would be your minimum temperature. But you should always run the engine hot for the best efficiency.

lol, really. Granted it's only a couple bucks, but why run anything more than a regular old 180 stat and have to pay more and wait for it . Actually, i run mine with a bypass hole or 2 drilled in it, and it will basically run about 170 in anything but the 90+ sitting in traffic days (i.e. you're limited by fans not the stat anyway). During the winter on the highway it runs 160. Yes a couple tiny bypass holes are all the engine needs to run a good bit cooler than the stat's opening if you have airflow through the radiator.

BTW, moving to the cooling board as this isn't TPI specific

I've read a lot of threads that say 170 is a great compromise between doing the switch with the 160 in summer and the 180 in winter. My mileage is already terrible - if I can get the car to run smoother and cooler then I'm happy - I've got so many problems right now that I feel when I get them ironed all out my mileage will improve, so if I get it all right and have a 170 stat and lose a little mileage, I think I'll be happy. By the way, I just had someone burn me a prom with the fan on/off temps matched for a 170 stat, so I'm commited now. Are there any other concerns with having a 170 stat?

It's a good site for a big purchase, but why not go to the dealer? ANY GM dealer can have the part the next or same day. By the time you pay the shipping and wait for the part to arrive you could have it already installed. Makes no sense on an item like that.
