Hypertech fan switch

I installed a NEW Hypercrap fan switch to allow my sec fan to come on earlier and the fan comes on early, after about 3 min. of running. This happened to me before and I thought maybe the thing was defective. Just for fun I put my infrared thermometer on the head right next to it and it was less than 100* when the fan kicked on! The primary fan comes on like normal, but the sec. fan basically runs all the time.

What else can I do? Are any of the OEM fan switches designed to allow the can to come on sooner than 200*+? I use a 180* stat and don't want to run much hotter than 200* max.

BTW, do anyone make a 190* stat? I know they have 195* but 185 or 190 would be more ideal for me...

Go to a credible parts store or a GM dealer. The Grand National has a switch that will work, comes on at like 200* i think.

Odd, I have the Hypertech switch in both my cars. The 91 has the dual fans too, so the pass fan comes on around the advertised temp. No problems. Now i need a chip to do the other fan. BTW, aside from the fan switches, stay away from anything Hypertech has, Same with Jet.

Thanks for the ideas gentlemen...

I did actually try to get a fan switch for a GN, but my local Advance did not have one in stock. I did not feel like waiting for them so I got the Hypercrap switch instead. I think I will try the GN one and see if it helps...
