Put my car away for the winter after it got touched up for some scratches.

A few days later I thought it was leaking oil so I get under the car and its driping near the pan so I check the plug and its tight then check the filter and its tight.

I went back to college and tell my dad to take it in to the shop for me and my father tells me its not leaking oil its antifreeze.

I guess because it was under the car and dark I could tell it was antifreeze or I'm just dumb.

So anyways how is antifreeze driping down the sides of the oil pan.

Please HELP

You most likely have a intake gasket leak. This is very common with all GM V8's. What engine do you have?? If it bears a aluminum intake, like the L69 or LB9 or L98 it is most likely the intake, as the aluminum and the cast metal do not mate well together. HTH's???

Sounds like it is most liekly a intake gasket, but I would clean off the engine well, and then run it till you see your leak. Or if you have access to a Coolant pressure tester, that will work too.

The engine was very clean and I saw no signs of a leak in the compartment.

According to the shop they said it was a soft plug leak. I didn't talk to the mechanic my dad did so I couldn't ask him about it. What I was told is that have jack up the engine to fix it.

My question is what is a soft plug
,how hard is it to fix($$)
, and how much could this of hindered my performance??????????

a soft plug is a freeze plug, depending on which one, you may need to lift the engine or pull the trans to access it, it wont affect performance unless you run low on coolant and overheat
