The stock factory fan switch that screws into the pass side head turns on the fan when the engine gets pretty damn hot. Like 230 or so. Real hot. You can get an aftermarket switch from Jet that turns on the fan at a lower temp.

I also heard that the fan switch from a 87 Buick GNX will work in our cars, and it turns the fan on at a lower temp than the stock Camaro unit. Anybody confirm this? Basically I think the stock switch turns on when the engine is too hot, and the Jet switch too cold, I'm looking for something in between.

I am running the fan switch for a 87 Buick t-type, which is pretty much a GN in standard regal clothing, it is for a 87 buick t-type, vin 7

it turns the fan on at approx. 220, off around 200

alright maybe i'll use an engine driven fan...haha...this is goin into an '84 s-15 by the way...and my brother said he'd make me a new setup for the fans with that switch as he did with his car becasue the stock setup is to damn confusing and cluttered up alot.

Yo Jack, I'd use the Buick turbo v6 switch rather than the Camaro switch since it turns on the fan at a lower temp. The electrical switch functions and connectors are the same. Threads are the same. It just switches at a temp that is more friendly to the engine.
