Wiring Up Dual Fans...

OK, so I have my IROC fans installed on my 86 T/A. Everything is ready to go, but i have a couple of questions. Im wiring em up so i can turn them on with a couple of switches. I am wondering if i should wire them directly to the battery, and from the battery to two relays, and from the relays to switches. If anybody has an easier way to do this, preferably without cutting into existing wiring on the car. I would print up Willie's fan control paper, but I dont have Adobe Acrobat, and with a 28.8 connection i dont feel like waiting an hour to download it.

Anyway, thanks for all the help!

yeah use relays and just simple flip switches for the ground wires coming off the relay(s)

Ok, so i want to ground the negative ( black) wire coming off the fans, and then the ground thats on the back of the switch is goin to go to the ground on the relay right?

yeah the main wires coming off the fan connectors go right to the body ground.

the grounding relay connections would go to the switch first then the other terminal on the switch would go to a chassis ground somewhere else.

Ok, so i have 3 terminals on the back of my switch.

the top one is a ground
the middle one is a power
the bottom one is also a power, but i think that its for the led on the switch

so on the top one i want it goin to the ground on the relay, right?
and on the middle one i need the power from the relay?
and on the bottom one i need what?

Sorry to keep askin the same questions but im not too good with electrical stuff, and i wanna make sure i get this done right

well unless u want to hook the led up i only think u need the ground one.

if u have a simple toggle switch u wouldnt need any power going to the switch.

just the switch inline on the ground wire coming from off the relay it would be fine.

Well i got it done last night. I got to looking at the diagram on the back of the toggle switch box and the way its setup it will only work if there is power goin to the LED terminal. So i just got a male end connector and spliced the two wires into one and ran it to the empty ignition slot in my fuse box. works pretty slick, even if i leave the fans on, they'll turn off as soon as the ignition goes off. anyway, thanks for the help, probably wouldnt have got it done!:hail:

i hope you fuse you switches.

when you say run led, you mean like when the power is on an led comes on? just wire it up to the on side of the switch and then ground it out

What exactley is a relay for. I just have a switch in between the hot that runs to the fuse panel and the fan.
