too hot

i recently swapped a 350 into my 82 trans am. but i cant run for more than 5 min before it hits 230 and i shut it off. why is it running hot? i know that the radiator is good cause i had it tested and car came from the factory with a 305. i also have an aluminum flex fan and the car leaks a little coolant from somewhere by the water pump. is the leak related to my cooling problem it doesnt leak much at all, just a little puddle after you let it sit over night. what are some of the things that could be causing my problem?

i'd flush out the entire cooling system and buy yourself a new water pump if it's leaking, you can get a HD water pump off a caprice cop car when you buy one. it'll have better bearings in it.
