Overheat, now rough idle

Bad day, i was in the lincoln tunnel when my cooling fans stopped working, terribly traffic, it was on my way out of the New York Auto show, i had no where to pull over, and no chance to let the car cool, the car overheated pretty bad till i finally got out of the and shot to the first place to pull over which turned out to be a gas station. all is fine now, but it's been a few weeks and my car has idled rough (jumping by 300-400 rpms) ever since the over heat and was rock steady before. Does this mean iv'e damaged something terribly ? or is there a chance i just caused some type of ecectrical problem with the tps or iac motor? It's a 350 tpi, does anyone know a procedure to check the components that may be causing this?

Re: Overheat, now rough idle

Dont mean to bring this back from the dead, but i am not having this same problem. Went away on a trip didnt check fluid levels when i got back. Realized my car was overheating. Car starts fine no smoke coming out of exhaust but rough idle and loss of power like a missfire. No cloudiness to the oil so I think the head gasket is fine. Could i have messed up my plugs or some sensor like the IAC? Any help would be great thanks.

does it still over heat? have you checked the spark plugs? it could be an injector issue.
