Camaro Newbie needing Cooling help

Hello All,

I have a 92 Camaro RS 5.0 TBI.

I am wanting to replace the Cooling Fan switch with a newer Jegs low temp turn on. Also, would like to install a new Thermostat 180 deg.

How do I properly dump all of the coolant?

Is there a plug somewhere that I can unscrew and drain?

Where is the coolant temp sensor switch located?

Any help would be appreciated.

thanks,
ttop25

You radiator plug should be on the passenger side of the car at the bottem of the radiator

if drain plug is frozen just remove lower hose and jump out of the way--it'll all come out!

The coolant fan switch is located on the passenger side head. Drain the coolant the way everyone else said, except it the drain screw is frozen up, I usually use an extension to smack it loose.
I believe the size is 21mm (or 13/16") to remove the switch.
There are also other options instead of buying the Jeg's switch.
Let me find the thread....can't find it.
But I did copy the info. This is a list of part numbers of other factory type switches, I think it was from Autozone (or one of those places)

FS6 - Closes at 204*-220* F- Retail $21.59

FS4 - Closes at 211*-227* F- Retail $8.69

FS1 - Closes at 222*-238* F- Retail $9.49

FS3 - Closes at 240*-252* F- Who would buy this one??

You will also want a lower temp thermostat. I run a 180º with a few small holes drilled in it.
