cooling block design

ok, i heard (from a reliable source, a college instructor) that the 2 middle cylinders (on each side) in chevy small blocks dont have any cooling lines going to them. The outer 2 cylinders are cooled. Is this true?

I had to look at my small block on the stand to be sure. There are coolant holes in between each cylinder. The water jacket is constant on both inside (towards crank) and outside.
