I'd be very careful with the electric pump. I haven't seen one with the capacity to actually cool a street car. Might be something that I haven't seen though, but check the specs close.

30GPM is what i have seen, but also heep in mind that electric pumps arent really designed to be run daily driver mode

Mines not a dialy driver so it's not running 6 hrs a day, but my Proform has held up great for 3 years and NEVER a problems with cooling even with this much hp, street driving never goes over 180* on the hottest bumper to bumper stop light to stop light July sunny days.
Another option would be to install the Moroso unit that utilizes the wiper motor and cog belt system, be sure to buy the overdrive pulley though so it turns the pump at a faster rate. These motors are just plain jane ford windsheild wiper motors and can be replaced for about $20, would not be unreasonable to have one as a back up in the car just waiting incase something bad did happen and it took a dump on you. I know far more guys running the Moroso unit than bolt on stand alone electrics, but none of us are daily drivers so can say with certainty what either system is like in the long haul, just know years of faithful service at the race track and many miles on the street-never a cooling issue-ever!!

the pump is rated at say 10,000 hours. figure how much you drive and thats about how long its gonnaa last.
you need a MINIMUM of 30GPM. if you have the money, spend it on the meziere. they have one that flows 55GPM for around 350 bucks.
they even recommend it for TOW VEHICLES on their site.
good stuff. buddy has one on his car and it runs 140 with the dual fans on. he runs with them off most of the time, and it runs 180 with no fans on.
this was with a 383 stroker too.

I'd be interested to know what factory mechanical pumps flow per hour. I've experimented with running no stat, a restrictor with the biggest hole and found cooling issues since water movement was just too fast to allow adequate heat disappation, and would think 55gph would 1. be circulating large volumes of water quickly and 2. would put undo stresss on the pump if running a stat since it'd be dead heading anytime the stat was closed, even with bypass holes drilled to allow some water past it'd still be getting backed up quite a bit.
I know with my Pro-Form (Meizere knock off) at 35gph and running the restrictor plate with the 3/4" hole I have one heck of a time building heat and that's with a fairly decent amount of power being produced, as crazy as it sounds if the gauge starts to come off 150* I start getting nervious thinking something is wrong, 180* I'm really sweating bullets LOL, but it's never gone above that now matter time of year, duration of drive time weather in town or interstate. Only thing with electric anything is they have a life span, but like anything else it's not if it'll break down, it's just a matter of when, regardless if it's mechanical factory set-up that's made for the long haul or power saving electric units for toys/weekend cruisers.
I dont know anybody running that huge 55gph pump personally, but it's nice to know those trying it are having excellent results, just seems like alot of overkill when lesser units far exceed even extreme needs.
