Overheating...I hate this....
Ok, I got an '87 GTA with LB9/700r4. I've replaced the hoses, thermostat, coolant flush like a million times and it STILL over heats. My fans work but once I shut the car off, they turn off too thus the coolant just comes pouring out of the canister. Does anyone know what the hell is up with this? We thought it was just air pockets and that the flushing would solve this. Not a chance. It worked fine for awhile, drove it for about 15 minutes and the fans came on and everything was good, than once we got back home and turned it off...boom, coolant everywhere. Please help...I'm so discouraged with this car.

i see 1 thing not listed that like the thermostat & coolant, should also be replaced every 2 years, its the easiest part to replace, it also causes a lot of problems when it goes bad,.. the radiator cap, did you put a new one on that is the right pressure for the car?
haha put it back on if you still have it. Even with a lowered car your airdam should have sufficient clearance. That should help. My friends airdam broke and was hanging down so he pulled it off for the night. He made it about 15 minutes before deciding it was gettin too hot. If you've already checked all the other stuff, try the airdam on again.

What temp should t/a's be at while driving? Mine sits at 100 than the fans turn on and hovers just below 100...I think that's too hot...I wish my dam wasn't busted to hell!
I'll see what the radman guy says, might be the rad. I'm still gonna figure out a way to put this damn dam back on, regardless of what this dude says. Thanks guys!

Figured out the problem. Filler neck(?) of the rad where the cap goes is melted in certain spots so there was no pressure in the system when the car would be shut off, thus all the coolant going back into the jug and boiling over. I'm so glad the problem wasn't in the engine...I would have considered selling the car. *WHEW*
