Crazy question
Ive been driving a LS1 for the last three years, and this is my first carb project. So please hold off the laughs and smart remarks.
Im very particular on things I buy. I have a 650 cfm thunder series carb, on top of a air gap intake. Which air filter system would work best? get me the most air?

I woudn't recommend the 1000 Series, since I've heard under back fires it will eat the filter alive and suck it in the motor. Which I imagine can't be good on stuff.
I'd get a round filter with nothing special on the top. Basically I would shy away from the triangle or odd shapes due to the fact if you plan on a ram air or cowl hood you'll probably want to build an enclosure or metal air pan. It's been shown at high enough speeds it's possible for the incoming air to siphon the fuel right out of the carb. This is from the air sweeping over and out the filter since it's not all contained in one area.
This would also be the right time to think about a drop base maybe to allow for more filter clearance for the hood.
(wrong section too)
