sounds like your temp. switch for the fan isn't working. I'm not sure where it is on your car. anyone know where the temp switch is on the TBI Models?

Are you saying the cooling fan kicks on either when the AC is turned on, or by itself around 230*-240*? If so, it sounds like the coolant fan switch (what transamracer mentioned) is working, but it's the stock one. I can't tell you why, but GM decided to kick the fan on on the single-fan 3rd gens very late.

They make aftermarket fan switchs that will turn the fan on much sooner, usually around 200*. There are many different companies that sell them, but this is the cheapest I have found them. I'm using this exact fan switch and it's working perfectly so far, it's part number 609-106:

The coolant fan switch location is the same on all the V8 3rd gens. It's in the passenger side cylinder head right in between the #6 and #8 spark plugs. If you want a step-by-step guide on replacing it, just let me know.
