A/T trans + rad upgrade
ok so this is prolly a dumb question but im going thru a custom build... i have a 400hp 400ftlb 350cid..... backed by a 700r4
i want to upgrade radiators. and i also plan on running a performance built 700r4 later on..
i want to know if its alright to get a regular hipo radiator sans the internal trans cooler and just run an air cooled trans cooler in front of the radiator?

I ran my trans cooler external of the radiator, and planning on running external of my C&R (which doesn't have provisisions for it anyway). You'll be fine.

When you say that you have a Northern 31" x 19" radiator do you mean you purchased the radiator from Northern Auto Parts and or that Northern is the company that makes the radiator? I looked at Northern auto parts and they sell a 31" x 19" radiator that is built by Be Cool and is a universal fit but from what I understood is that they were not designed for vehicles like the firebird/camaro due to the angle that the radiators are installed at unlike a truck with a radiator set straight up. If it works it works, I just wanted to clarify.

Those are made by northern radiator
A 31x19 can fit, just a little work.
At summit they now sell a direct fit for the camaro/firebird with tranny cooler for like $300 or so.

instead of $500+ for one that has a internal trans cooler...
