reverse water pump ??

I have a 1987 z28, took the 305 out used the same water pump on a I believe a 1991 caprice roller 350 block. (cop car)
Iam wondering how do I tell what the old water pump is, rev, standard??
is there a difference in the block or is only in the water pump?
If I take the rear plate of the water pump what direction should the veins be ?

thanks
Scott

If you have V-belts now, you need a standard rotation water pump. The Caprice motor will most likely be a reverse rotation, being a serpentine.
