Gents,
I trying to remove the wate pump pulley. Is there a tool to hold it to remove the bolts? I see that there are two pin holes in the pump hub, I believe these are for a holder bar? Or do you remove the pump first?

Russ, the easiest way I have found to do remove those bolts is to loosen them with the belt still on and tight. If the pulley wants to turn under the belt, put some tension on the belt. After you have loosened the bolts, then remove the belt, then the bolts and pulley. If you already have it off, I would suggest having another hold the pulley, and you turn the bolts, or use a 3/8 impact to remove them.

I guess, I guess I could use a strap wrench also, but I don't have one.

But the questions still stands, is there a tool for holding the pump flange?

Thanks for the tip, put belt back on, use impact wrentch. Boy was it hard to fit in there.

The weep hole on the pump is leaking badly. Probably ~1drop per 3 minutes.

Will replacing today.

Russ, your gonna play hell getting an impact in there. I was suggesting using the impact if the pump was already off. There is no tool for holding the flange. The only thing close would be to remove the back plate from the pump and jam the impeller somehow.

Just take a long flat blade screw driver and wedge it between

two of the bolts and loosen one bolt. Do that three more times

and wallaa, take it off.

Hi,

Install the four bolts and do the same thing as you did taking

them loose. Really very simple. When you go to install I don't run

the bolts all the way in which gives me a bigger shoulder for the

screwdriver blade to rest on while tightening. Doesn't have to be

a screwdriver 60 seconds off 60 on.

the screwdriver trick works good.
you can also use 2 boxed end wrenches if your coordination is good.
hole the pulley with one, while pulling with the other.
done it quite a few times.

 

i use a tire iron or similar tool to wedge the hub so can loosen the nuts, different position for each nut
