AC Removal
Can anyone help me on this issue? I run a v-belt setup and want to clean up the engine a little bit as well as save some weight. My question is, can I remove everything up to the a/c canister and just leave that there? WIll my heat still work?
This is not my engine, but I believe this guy did what I want to do. Is there anything wrong with this setup?

No. I believe that is the pressure switch for the system, and It shouldn't be tied into the ECM.

so with doing this you can still use your heater without getting a non-a/c control box? what about if you take out the canister and plug up the lines? and do you have to drain the coolant when you take out the a/c?

you should have it evacuated by a shop.</H5><H3><P>

So what's the "big" difference between doing the entire swap with a non ac box compared to keeping the stock box and just plugging it ?
Astetics ? 1 ounce or two of weight saving ? Smaller box ?

Also the AC delete boxes are metal, while the AC boxes are plastic. I noticed when I pulled my AC box I actually had scorched/melted spot on mine from being so close to my Edelbrock TES Headers.

No company is currently making them. GM has also discontinued them. Dave gets them from time to time and posts them for sale on his website (should beable to find him using the search).
I bought mine from him. You're going to have to find a place to pick it up 2nd hand (Junk Yard, Classifieds, Ebay). Just make sure you grab the blower motor too because your stock AC one will not fit in the new box without a custom made spacer.
Basically any 3rd gen firebird camaro without AC should have the right style box.

Sucks that they keep discontinuing stuff. I need a factory exhaust hanger but guess what... It was discontinued. LOL!! So I am going to go over to Vorgath's house and take it off his car at night time.
