Dual fans
I was wondering where to get some quality, aftermarket, dual electric fans for my 87 z-28 350 tpi. Sometimes in traffic it tries to run a little warm. Thanks in advance.

You can go with a factory F-Body dual fan setup. You'll need the upper and lower mounting brackets,of course the fans and try and get one with as much of the harness as you can get.You have options to let the ECM control them if your car has the single electric fan, modify the system with different coolant/fan temp switches and also install an adjustable thermstat.Check this link https://www.thirdgen.org/newdesign/tech/cool.shtml in the tech section for all the info you'll need.

Thanks, I will try these. I do have a dual fan set up but one fan is not working. I will go down to the auto parts store and pick one up for about $35.00. I didnt know if a after market would be better. The fan didnt come on until 220 degrees. So I guess I will get different switch. I assume I can use it. The car came with a 305 tpi and now it has a rebult 350 tpi out of a 89 formula, and a corvette cpu. Also would you know how I would go about adding a high performance chip? Would I get one for a corvette or a camaro or is there not that much of a difference? And would that help with cooling? Thanks in advance for your help.

James that's a great article too.I'm going to a single fan setup for now,I have almost everything for the single fan,but it's a start.
Swerve on your second fan not working, does your A/C worked? It's control is tied into the A/C pressure switch among other parameters..Have you tried running power directly to the motor to make sure it's the problem?
There are articles in the PROM forum how to burn your own chip. That is one option you could go to.I would think you could go with the chip for a F-Body with the 350TPI.The Hypertech Stage 2 chips,or am i thinking JET,do alter the control of the cooling fans. But this is done working with a low temp thermostat and the lower temp fan switch that goes in the head.
Also you could have both fans come on instead of being staged.More of an intial electrical load but you should get faster reaction on cooling.

OK, I ordered a lower temp switch. One of my fans is not getting power. The AC does cool but it is not the coolest. It could use a charge. Also, even if the AC was not working wouldn't both fans still come on when the engine heated up. Just trying to see what is going on. I am looking for my third gen camaro chiltons atm. Thanks for any help.

I think I might have found it, I read that the second fan will not come on until 234. WTH? I think it will melt by then. Im just going to install the new switch and get a stage 2 chip. Thanks
