Stupid question... Getting to the thermostat on a stock 88 LB9...
What gives? The one bolt on the housing is fairly easy to get to. But the front/left bolt, is sitting underneath two lines to the TPI, and a thick *** rubber hose that i cant seem to get off, even with both ends undone.
Someone tell me theres a better way than yanking off the TB to change a friggin thermostat. ive never had to take the TB off before, so im not looking forward to it. i cant get a deep socket, or a socket with an extension down there with that thick rubber line in the way...

I ended up taking my upper plenum off...and then forgot to put the new tstat in, instead i put the old one back on there and after i got everything bolted up i just could care less and gave up.

admrlam,
Did you get it off w/o taking the tb off?
I serviced the cooling system a few weeks ago and ended
up taking the tb off to get the t-stat out.
Since then, i've had a slight leak from the gasket. I am
thinking about taking it back off and using some silicone
on the gasket.
I did manage to get a regular boxed end wrench on it to
tighten it about a quarter of a turn but that would take all
day to take it off.
FYI, I did buy a craftsman 9/16 universal joint socket but
it was too tall. Last night I bought the craftsman socket set
with the 6 point ends. (You turn the socket with a wrench.)
I still couldn't get a good hold of it.
