engine temp?

engine temp?

what is the normal temp. 4 a 1983 camaro 2.8l? my friends is reading 220 and i thought that was high, also how acurate r aftermarket gauges, becuz he has 1 and is not sure if its the right temp or not.

220 is right about right, i threw in a 180 degree thermostat because i didn't like the fact that it was warming up that high (i live in an area that routinely sees over 100 degrees in the summer. i have no complaints at all about using the 180 degree, though i do have to change it out ever 2 years for the 195 so i can pass smog...s

My car has ran as low as 160 on the highway..

But I also have a huge radiator and the sort.

accually it was reading 235 for the temp.
