Fans always on and then shut off when AC is turned on

I had some work done awhile ago on my 1989 Iroc with the 350 TPI motor in it. Since then (about 2 years ago) the fans have always been running when the key was turned in the on position. I thought this was cool because at the track between runs I could run my fans to cool the engine. But I have just gotten my AC fixed and have noticed the engine starts to get hot when the AC is turned on. The reason being is that when the AC is turned on the fans shut off. How do I fix this to make it run normal again? What could be the problem?

You first need to locate the cooling fan sensor.I dont have any idea where its located at on the v8?maybe someone reading can help?I would believe its near the starter in the engine block or on the drivers side engine block.Near the oil pan.If the wire leading to it is burnt or grounded then as soon as you turn the key on that circuit is grounded and fans are on.If the wire looks good try replacing the sensor .DO NOT REMOVE IT TILL THE CAR IS COLD!!overnight cooling is recommended on this one.if it still comes on a scanner would be wise...
