Hood Insulation known to cause problems?

I noticed the cap to the overflow tank has left an indention in the hood insulation. Also, the coolant in the overflow has what I would call a lot of black dust or black fine dirt in it.

Never had that problem when my Res tanks were monuted on the stock location.Maybe cutting the insulation just around the cap will help.Definitely change the coolant in the overflow tank.

Im suprised you havent just taken the insulation off yet. The only thing it provides is sound deadening. Having it off will not effect the paint - on niether a fiberglass nor steel hood. Plus, it sounds like yours is nasty and flaking anyways.
