So i found out that my single electric fan is supposed to come on when the A/C is turned on in my 85 trans am with 305 TPI. I don't know where to begin to solve this problem. any help would be "COOL."

Check the wiring diagrams for '85 within the tech articles. You'll find that the fan relay kicks on the fan when it's grounded. For the A/C it is either grounded through a pressure switch or the AC control head.

I thought so too, but I checked the wiring diagrams for an 85 and VIN F shows a ground through the AC control head. Doesn't mean it's necessarily so though...

It is definately through the A/C control head. But you really should make sure the relay is still good before tearing into the wiring or the dash.

You can check the relay by jumpering the ground lead to a chassis ground. If the fan still comes on by the temp switch though that would rule out the relay as well.
