Gauge

Upon starting the car the heat gauge is maxed, but the vehicle does not seem to be overheating, is it more likely that the gauge is bad or that there is a bad wire somewhere? Everything else on the dash seems to be operating correctly

When mine did that the gauge was loose in the cluster. Pull the bezel off and reseat the gauge, and see if that fixes it.

happens when the guage is worn out, old, they will peg out and can get stuck,
