Fans...

Hi I'm stacey, I'm 19 and I own a 91 RS. My car has been overheating and I replaced the thermastat I just got done draining the radiator thinking it might be clogged because my antifreeze just turned to a nasty brown, and its not leaking so I don't think my water pump is out. Can anyone please direct me somewhere or can someone tell me what temp my fan should be kickin on at?

Your fan should be kicking in around 190-210, but it also depends on what engine you have. If the fan is not kicking on, replace the relay after checking the fan motor itself. All you have to do to check it is jump the fan leads to the battery real quick and see if it spins. Chances are it's a faulty switch or relay.

My favorite solution to the whole fan problem is a manual switch- just be sure to not let your friends drive the car after you put the switch in- they will never turn it on, even if you tell them to Hope this helps,
