85 Iroc TPI Cooling fan

I have an '85 Iroc 305 TPI and was wondering if the computer uses the sensor on the front of the intake to control the single cooling fan? I got a fan switch (sensor) for the passenger side cylinder head, but cannot see a connector on the harness that will fit it other than the knock sensor plug!! This car was purchased with the engine and trans removed, so I wasn't the one to "unplug" everything from the motor prior to being taken out!!

Re: 85 Iroc TPI Cooling fan

Hey, did you get this problem figured out yet?

Well if you didnt, there alot posts about this but I can give you some quick info. The sensor in front of the intake is the Coolant Temp Sensor for the computer and does not control the cooling fan. The one sensor (switch) on the passenger side is for the cooling fan to come on when it gets hot enough which "should" be at about 185degrees and has the same plug as your knock sensor. There also should be another cooling temp sensor which is for your temperature gauge and that one is on the drivers side head between #1 and #2 cylinders. This help?
