reverse rotation fan

Has any one added a reverse rotation fan on the water pump to go along with any electric fan? Did make much of a distance?

Re: reverse rotation fan

Gotta say that`s a first for me! I would assume you could just turn the fan over and mount it but there has to be more to it. There was a recent post about someone trying to do just what you asked and it was`nt going to work. Try doing a search at the top of the page.

Re: reverse rotation fan

I did a bunch or research on this when I converted my car to a serpentine belt from my stock v-belt system. I found out that the clutch fan is directional and you can't just turn the fan around and have it work for a reverse rotation water pump. I just ended up using a Stahl fan assembly.

I looked into clutch fan assemblies off the later model trucks but the rpm range that they are rated for will not work for my car. Truck clutch fans are designed for 4000 rpm max.

Re: reverse rotation fan

ITS A FAN MADE BY FLEX-LITE LOOK IN SUMMIT CATALOG. MADE FOR SERP. BELT SET UP. MADE TO GO IN REVERSE. NOT TALKING ABOUT FLIPPING ANY THIN OVER.

Re: reverse rotation fan

You're not going to have room to mount a clutch fan behind an electric fan, and it wouldn't make much difference in cooling if you did.

Warning: the following is a blunt opinion of MrDude... it will probably **** atleats one person off.

mechanical fans are for people too ignorant to just use an electrical fan.

Re: reverse rotation fan

Or too lazy to convert because they already have a perfectly working clutch fan.

Mechanical fans are for people with trucks that need to stay cool pulling GCVWs of 10,000+ lbs, running in 105* temperatures, stopped in traffic, etc. My Van has a stock GM 4 core radiator with a 28" wide core, stock 7 blade reverse rotation clutch fan with a HD fan clutch. The engine runs 195-200* as viewed on a datalog at all times, with a 195* thermostat. I have one 10" pusher fan in front of the A/C condensor on the driverside to help the A/C keep its cool in the high heat. The helper fan is only wired to run if the engine is above 225* or the A/C blower fan is on high. The A/C blows 45-50* on a 100*+ day sitting in traffic. I should add that I have a monster transmission cooler on the passenger side in front of the A/C condensor AND a water/oil oil cooler like the thirdgens use, sandwiched between the block and the oil cooler. Cools my 425 FWHP 350 perfectly.
